Public Government

We are a collection of individuals who would like to restore the balance of power between the state and its citizens.

We've talked to many people, from all walks of life. We found that most think that our political system is broken. The issue is that no one seemed to see a solution.

We like to think in terms of solutions, rather than problems, so formulated way things could change, where no one looses their job and no institutions are changed, but the political system is fundamentally changed. A fixed system not a broken one.

We believe in an government that keeps its citizens healthy. A government that provides for the needs of its citizens. A government that cares about the happiness of its citizens.

Basic First Step Premise

Since its inception, government has required representation. We couldn't all travel to parliament to argue about what should be done, so we elected people to act on our behalf.

We still need representatives to create the bills and do the arguing, but we don't require them to represent us when voting on those bills.

By requiring the government to present their bills to the citizens, and the opposition to put forward the alternatives too, we use this knowledge to decide for ourselves if the bill should pass.

This simple change not only shift the burden of responsibility, it is the first step in restoring the balance of power between the state and its citizens. No revolution is needed, no blood lost, no jobs lost, just a smooth transition to a better system.

Three Prime Components

Our proposed restructuring is based on three core elements; the government, justice and rights.

There is a plan!

This site is dedicated to the proposition of a better government, but it is the political parties that will be implementing it. We have out political party which aims to make this framework a reality, which you can find out about at pubgov.uk.

Our proposed framework includes better guides to how government should be operating on behalf of its citizens.

Initial Steps

In order for a new framework to be implemented, a number of small steps need to be taken. We have made an example roadmap of four initial changes that we would endeavour to achieve.

Implement Citizen Voting

Step 1

As summarised in the first step premise above. This would involve rolling out a secure app which allows citizens to read bill details with an opposition view in advance of voting on it. Votes are made anonymously and recorded in a block chain. Citizens are able to verify their own vote, but not the vote of any other.

Introduce Rights Bills

Step 2

The proposed six set of rights would be individually presented to the citizens for ratification. Additionally a contract under which the government must operate on the citizens behalf would also be presented.

Create a Public Government

Step 3

In order for a government to be public, all records must be made available to the public by default. Those deemed sensitive may have a statement detailing the reason for withholding in place of the documents attached to this blockchain for a period of up to 10 years.

Make Judicial Changes

Step 4

Our proposed changes include to allow a Jury to have the power not only to find a person innocent of guilty of braking a law, but also to rule that the law is found wanting. We also propose that if the jury finds the person to be guilty, they should also decide on the punishment.
